$$$Roleplay Begins$$$
$RP begins as we see Jayson Mack walking into Texas Sports Medicine and Orthopedic Group building - the same group of physicians that provide care for the Dallas Mavericks. Jay is visibly shaken after being attacked by Kyra Johnson during their training session. Jayson was the Anything Goes Champion, and Kyra lured him into a trap to regain the title. She had hit him with a loaded purse, and the doctor at their wrestling school diagnosed Jay with a mild concussion. Here, we see Jay headed to get a second opinion. His driver has wheeled him into the facility as the potential concussion has his equilibrium off a good bit.$
Mark- Sir, are you sure that you want to possibly waste your time with this appointment? You are not at your best right now, if you ask me.
Jay- I didn't ask you, now, did I?
Mark- I apologize, sir. I just-
Jay- Save it! You have been on my payroll for - what - a week? Do not sit here and act like you know me. I shall be fine--as soon as this doctor clears me for competition. How dare that dollar store reject doctor tell me I need to be in a concussion protocol.
$Jayson scoffs at the idea of having to miss this precious training time. Having signed his contract with Hate City Syndicate recently, it is only a matter of time until Al Envy will book him for his debut.$
Mark- I believe you are more hurt than you are letting on. I'm not trying to test your patience or end up fired like my predecessor. I'm just doing my best to be like a friend. After all, we both know that's a sour subject for you.
Jay- I apologize, Mark. I can tell you are just trying to keep my spirits up. That is an irony, no? My driver is the person at my side. I'm hurt, and my father can't even find the time of day to even send a text message to see how badly I am hurt. It is quite a ridiculous predicament I find my life to be.
Mark- Ms. Johnson did, at least, send you a Twitter to keep her informed on your condition--
Jay- Really? Did you just say she sent me a Twitter? It's called a tweet. Nonetheless, she probably should have considered her actions prior to hitting me with a freaking brick, no?
Mark- I agree that those methods were a bit barbaric. I doubt she intended to injure you, no matter your past.
$Mark wheels him to a waiting room and signs him in. The receptionist opens the sliding window and says that the doctor will see Jayson shortly. Mark takes a seat next to his boss.$
Jay- Intentional or not, it happened. I am not so much upset about the attack itself as the way she went about doing it. I thought the two of us were attempting to work on some sort of friendship. I should have probably seen that coming. I got the upper hand on her in the little scrimmage yesterday, so it was due, I suppose.
Mark- Sir, did you just blame yourself for this?
Jay- I suppose I did. That is quite the absurd statement. I am just not sure how to process it, is all.
Mark- I am sure you will put two and two together. If I may, I would at least give the young lady a chance to--
Jay- I think I know where you are about to go, and I don't want you to waste your breath. I would be willing to - say - hear her out. The question at hand is whether or not she is sincere about her concern.
$A door opens, and a nurse calls out Jayson’s name. Mark stands up and wheels him toward the open door. The nurse guides the two into a room.$
Nurse- Mr. Mack, you’re here to get a second opinion on a concussion, correct?
Jay- Yes, I am. Can we please get to it? I have a migraine.
Nurse- Unfortunately, that's not a good sign, Mr. Mack. Let me get your vitals so that we can get you on your way soon, okay?
$The nurse checks his blood pressure, heart rate, and all the other routinely checked stats and exits the room. Shortly afterwards, Dr. Tarek Souryal - the man that oversaw Jayson’s recovery from the injury that ended his collegiate football career - enters the room.
Souryal- THE Jayson Mack, how are you, my friend?
$Dr. Souryal shakes the hand of Jayson and Mark.$
Jay- I wish we were meeting under more pleasant terms, but I have been fair to middling.
Souryal- I wish the same. I still believe your spiral was one of the prettiest I've ever seen. Now, I'm sure you want to get out of here. Did I see this right? You were hit in the head with a brick during wrestling training? Is that how they train people these days? I don't recall stories of that when you were at SMU.
Jay- No, it wasn't exactly like that.
$Jayson laughs at the thought.$
Jay- It’s more complicated than that. I had a title, and Ky--
Souryal- I was kidding. All that matters is getting you a proper look over. Should we get started?
Jay- Please. I just want to get back to training.
$Dr. Souryal conducts the concussion testing. Fifteen minutes later, he delivers his prognosis.$
Souryal- I wish that I could overturn the original opinion, but I can't. On the bright side, it is a mild concussion, so you should be able to return to your training sooner rather than later. In the meantime, you’re going to have to take it easy and not engage in physical activity. I'm sorry I couldn't bring you better news. If you have any further questions at any time, feel free to call my office or cell.
Jay- It's not your fault, doc. It's hers. It is just baffling and borderline depressing.
Souryal- Don't allow yourself to get too wrapped up into this. A positive mindset could go a long way to a speedier recovery. The nurse will be back with full instructions and a prescription for your pain. Congratulations on winning your first wrestling title, even if the end wasn't quite the way you'd prefer it.
Jay- Thank you, Dr. Souryal.
Souryal- Please, call me Tarek.
$With that, he exits the room. Shortly afterwards, the nurse returns with instructions, the prescription, and his discharge papers. Mark wheels Jayson back to the limousine. Once inside, Mark rolls the tiny glass separating window down.$
Mark- This may sound a bit childish, but what would you say to a stop for ice cream? It may help calm down your noggin.
Jay- That actually sounds like the best idea today. Make it so!
Mark- That's the spirit.
$Mark rolls the window back up and drives out of the parking lot of the first-class facility.$
